SINCE 2002

Charlie's World of Meat began as a single butcher counter inside a No Frills in Scarborough. Twenty years later, we're 15 counters strong — and we still hand-cut every piece, every day.

A neighborhood for a neighborhood.

In 2002, Charlie's Meat partnered with No Frills to open our first butcher counter inside the store at 681 Silver Star Blvd. Our objective was simple: serve Toronto's Chinese community with the cuts and specialty products they couldn't find at a regular grocery store.

We offered custom cuts for Chinese and Hong Kong cooking — the kind of cuts that require a real butcher behind the counter, not a pre-packaged tray.

We learned how multicultural our city really is.

Through that first store, we discovered something important: every community in the GTA was looking for the same thing we were already doing — fresh meat, hand-cut, with someone behind the counter who could answer questions and prepare exactly what you needed.

So we opened more counters. Then more. Twenty-plus years later, we operate 15 Charlie's World of Meat counters across Toronto, Scarborough, Markham, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Brampton and Etobicoke — plus a dedicated halal store in Markham.

From Cantonese hot pot to Portuguese churrasco.

Today our counters serve neighborhoods of every background. Whether you're shopping for:

  • Cantonese hot pot slices and Chinese sausage
  • Portuguese churrasco cuts and chouriço
  • Halal beef, lamb and poultry (at our Markham store)
  • Filipino BBQ pork and chicken cuts
  • Caribbean stew meat, oxtail and goat
